Skeleton Warrior - Showcase

Hi there,

Here you'll find some pictures (and turnaround!) of my last model.
The original idea was to try to design a character that would combine both sci-fi and fantasy elements, as I find this kind of merger very challenging.

I also learned a lot of new techniques : the hi-poly model is 99% zbrush, mainly using polygroups, panelgroups, split brushes, and "Polish By Feature" (just a couple of IMM tri-brushes were made elsewhere). The texturing instead was done after studying a bit more about PBR and learning how to use Substance Painter and Designer. Final renders were made in Marmoset.

And here  a couple of turnarounds from the hi-poly.

Skeleton Warrior - "Release Candidate 1.0"

Hi there, I am trying to put together one still and finally move on the next character.
At home I don't have a calibrated monitor, so I will have to test it on several devices to be sure that the image will not be too black.
I will also improve some details on the background, before declaring it finished.

Texturing - part II

Second texturing day!
I have to say that new tools like Substance Painter and Designer greatly improved my workflow's speed :)

Texturing - part 1

Long time I don't post an update!
Summer, work, and the lack of 4K maps support in Substance Painter I guess :)
Here I started to put together the basic palette on the body.
I will soon expand the same concept to the head, adding more details.
Hope you like it!

Finally the first module is ready for texturing!
I will add the cape and the beast skull as a second separate module.
Below you'll find a screenshoot from marmoset with the baked lowpoly
If you want to see the final version of the hipoly model instead, go and see the HiPoly turnaround.

Finally in Prague

It has been a while since my last post, the relocation didn't help, and I had to stop this guy for a while :)

Red Monika

Just started a new character based on various Joe Mad's amazing illustrations.
I really love his style, and it's so fun to sculpt this girl.
My plan is to do a 3D print.

Just a quick update with some detail added to the head.
I will refine it further very soon.

Some work done.

I finally finished to "retopo" this guy. I still need to do some cleanup on the design, but the armour is almost there. Can't wait to finish it!

I just finished to create the lo-res model and the uvs.
Quick test with normal maps applied...

Hi there!
This is the first time I own a blog.
I decided to start it to post all my future characters while working on them, while I will keep my website www.mariobaldi.com to show the final result.
The guy you're seeing here is going to become a lo-res character.
Hope you'll like it!
